Concept
Resonance explores the point at which the frequencies of human and machine, analogue and digital, past and future intersect. Field recordings captured at construction sites are reworked and combined with a 3D cityscape, forming a chaotic soundscape of the contemporary city.
As machines become increasingly embedded in the environments we inhabit, what place remains for the human? Rather than offering a fixed answer, Resonance imagines how different frequencies might coexist within an uncertain future, and what kinds of echoes they leave on one another.

Process
Field Recording
Sounds of machinery and the surrounding environment were recorded at construction sites across London. These field recordings became the raw material for the work’s soundscape.
Audiovisual System
The field recordings were processed in Ableton Live, while particle feedback and point cloud systems in TouchDesigner were used to develop the visual elements. Sound and digital imagery were brought together within a single audiovisual environment.
